Q: How Does the transport process work?

A: Once you submit the required paperwork, the transport of your vehicle will be scheduled according to the dates on your shipping order. After a truck has been assigned and scheduled for pick up you will make your deposit to Dream Auto Transport and you will receive a call from the driver to schedule the pick up time and date. When the driver picks up your vehicle, he will do a detailed inspection of your vehicle on the Bill of Lading. You will both sign this form and you will receive a copy. The same Bill of Lading will be present on delivery so you can re-inspect the car. The driver should again call you in advance to schedule an approximate time for delivery. The transporter will take every precaution to deliver you vehicle without incident; however, if damage should occur, you must report this damage upon delivery on the Bill of Lading. It is important that you and the transport driver sign this document. Claims cannot be processed by our insurance company if damage is not noted at time of delivery.


Q: How long will my vehicle take during transit?

A: Coast to coast vehicle transport trip usually takes from 7 to 14 days. Shorter auto shipping trips can take from 1 to 7 days, depending on the distance. Traffic, inclement weather, truck breakdowns, seasonal fluctuations and other unforeseen events may delay the auto shipping of your vehicle. Pickup and delivery dates are estimated but are not guaranteed. If either your origination or destination locations are away from population centers, in other words in a remote area, then you might consider meeting a driver in a nearby big city or town to increase your chances of shipping in a more timely fashion.


Q: Am I permitted to place any items in my vehicle for transport?

A: Here at Dream Auto Transport we do not advise or authorize personal belongings in the vehicle nor or these items covered by carrier insurance. If you choose to put items in your vehicle it is completely at your own risk. Not only are vehicle shipping and car transport companies not insured for household goods, it is against the law for them to transport anything except your vehicle. The vehicle shipping and car transport truck is subject to inspection by the DOT and the Police at every state line and can be fined up to $10,000 if found to be carrying household goods. The car is subject to being impounded and all fines and expenses will be passed along to the owner of the car. If you so choose to do so at your own risk keep in mind light and out of sight.


Q: What are my payment options while transporting my vehicle?

A: A deposit is required for each vehicle to be transported. Dream Auto Transport accepts all major credit cards or certified funds. The remaining amount will be COD upon delivery of your vehicle drivers will accept cash, cashiers check or money order, no personal checks will be accepted by drivers on occasion drivers may be willing to accept company checks this must be discussed with the driver before hand and he/she must agree to that payment terms. Upon delivery of your vehicle all payment must be made out to the driver for all COD’s owed. With special circumstances Dream Auto Transport may charge the balance in full to the credit card used for deposit if the customer must pay by credit card. Note* All transport that is billed directly to a credit card will incur a 6% transaction fee. For your protection, all credit card numbers are secure and safe and is wiped from our system following your transport.


Q:  How is my vehicle transported and what is the difference between an open and an enclosed carrier?

A: Vehicles will be transported via open multiple car carriers, unless enclosed carrier is requested. Open Carrier are those you see transporting  new cars to and from dealerships. These carriers range in size and capacity. Vehicles that are moved via an open carrier are exposed to elements, weather and road conditions. Enclosed Carriers also range in size and capacity from soft side enclosed carriers to hard side enclosed carriers. Since these carriers are covered, the vehicles in transit are not exposed to weather or road conditions. Enclosed carriers are recommended for custom and antique/classic cars or high end vehicles as well. This mode of transport is more costly than the open carrier.


Q: Is my vehicle insured for the entire transport?

A: Yes, all carriers are fully insured to meet all State and Federal requirements. The transport driver will thoroughly inspect the vehicle at pick up and delivery. When your vehicle is delivered, it is your responsibility to inspect for any damage that may have occurred during transport. Document any damage on the Bill of Lading and obtain the driver’s signature. The insurance company will not process claims if damages are not documented at the time of delivery.


Q: Do I have to be present when my vehicle is picked up and delivered?

A: Yes. Generally you must be present at both the pickup and delivery of the vehicle or you may designate a person to act as your agent in your absence to complete the auto transporting process. Special accommodations may be made for special circumstances each individual transport is unique and should be discussed in full with the booking specialist. At this point his/her expertise and knowledge will aide in providing you with the best option for your particular scenario.


Q: Where will my vehicle be picked up and delivered?

A: The vehicle will be picked up/delivered as close to your home as possible. Occasionally, the maneuverability of these large transport carriers or local government regulations will not allow the transporter truck to come directly to your home. In these cases, an alternate site will be selected that contains a large parking lot, such as a shopping mall.


Q: What is a (BOL) bill of lading or freight bill and/or a condition report?

The Bill of Lading or Freight Bill serves as a receipt for your vehicle and it represents the contract of carriage between you, as the shipper, and the Carrier. The Driver will give you a copy of the Bill of Lading at the time the vehicle is picked up. The Bill of Lading is an important document to you. It must be signed by the driver and by you or your representative. It should show the name of the Shipper, the origination contact and location and to whom and where it is delivering, plus all pertinent telephone numbers. Review the Bill of Lading to make sure that the place of delivery is shown correctly, and that the Bill of Lading contains the name, address, and telephone number where the Shipper or authorized agent can be notified of problems and possible delays while the vehicle is in transit. The Bill of Lading should also have the name, address, and telephone number of the Carrier. Legally, the Carrier must utilize a Bill of Lading and give you a copy of it before your vehicle leaves the point of origin. Familiarize yourself with your copy of the Bill of Lading and read the conditions on the front and back of the form carefully. Be certain you understand that portion of the Bill of Lading which sets forth the liability of the Carrier for any loss or damage to your vehicle. he Condition Report is a part of the Bill of Lading. The Condition Report documents the condition of your vehicle at the time the Driver takes custody of it. Before the Driver loads your vehicle, he will fill out a Condition Report that will note the condition of the vehicle at the time he receives it. The Shipper or authorized agent will need to verify the notations made and sign that you are in agreement with them. The Shipper should receive a copy of this Condition Report before the vehicle leaves the point of origin. Claims of damage at destination will be based on the condition of your vehicle, as reported, before it was transported.
